HOYAN 皓昕

Hong Kong-born Soprano HoYan Chui (崔皓昕) is a classical singer and music tutor based in the UK.

As a Performancer

In 2023, HoYan made her UK debut with the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, singing in the ensemble of The Pirates of Penzance, The Yeomen of the Guard and The Mikado. In 2024, she's returning to sing in the Gondoliers, HMS Pinafore, Trial by Jury and the Pirates of Penzance. She also sang in a solo recital 'Blossoms' at the St. John's Church near the Buxton Opera House as part of the lunchtime recital series.
Previous opera roles include Papagena/Die Zauberflöte (Opera Hong Kong, Streetwise Opera), Mabel/
The Pirates of Penzance (Opera Hong Kong), Adele(c)/Die Fledermaus (Leeds Youth Opera), Moth/A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Britten (RNCM Opera), Susanna/Le Nozze di Figaro (Maurizio’s Opera) and Flora/Turn of the Screw (Opera North Residency). In 2022 Christmas Eve, she was singing live on TV at the BBC Midnight Mass.

She graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music under the tutelage of Susan Roper, Peter Wilson and Linda Richardson.

As a Teacher

HoYan has more than 10 years of experience teaching Singing, Piano, Flute, Music Theory and Songwriting. Her students have achieved exceptional results, such as obtaining choral scholarship to study at the University of Oxford and the Chetham's School of Music, scoring Distinction at the ABRSM Exams in Singing (Grade 8), Music Theory and Piano (Grade 5). She was previously teaching singing at Methodist College Belfast and piano at Presto Music Academy.
